e-Radio P2D 2045 Module recognized as 2015 CES Innovation Awards Honoree in the Tech For A Better World Category
The Consumer Electronics Association announced on November 11, 2014 that e-Radio USA Inc.'s P2D 2045 module has been named a 2015 CES Innovations Awards Honoree in the Tech For A Better World product category.
Products entered in this prestigious CES awards program are judged by a panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronic products.
e-Radio's patented P2D™ 2045 module uses FM RDS technology within the CEA-2045 standard to send real time electricity pricing directly to appliances, enabling them to buy their energy more intelligently, materially improving the efficiency of the grid. When the e-Radio P2D 2045 module is connected to the host appliance, it will enable the device to comply with emerging "connected" appliances Energy Star performance specifications from the EPA.
Appliance addressability has the potential to save billions of dollars and millions of tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. In addition, the e-Radio P2D™ 2045 module can work seamlessly within energy home management systems to provide greater convenience and flexibility. This creates significant user value through continuous energy optimization combined with a never before possible degree of convenience, control and flexibility in the home environment.
"We know of no other product innovation that has the same potential to use technology to make the world a better place," said Jackson Wang, President and CEO of e-Radio USA Inc. "Consumers and utilities alike will appreciate the simplicity of the plug-and-play e-Radio P2D™ 2045 module whose development began over a decade ago. Using pre-existing and near ubiquitous radio signals can save billions of dollars, reduce environmental impact, add remote addressability and reap additional significant societal benefits."
From a value for price perspective, the e-Radio P2D™ 2045 module achieves significant consumer savings. For utilities, the proven and ubiquitous FM RDS communication network ensures high levels of reliability with visual confirmation of locked signal quality, authenticated messages and optimal confirmation of load shed during times of peak demand.
To quote Conrad Eustis, strategic consultant for Portland General Electric and a long time advocate for the CEA-2045 standard, "e-Radio's work using the CEA-2045 standard represents a cost breakthrough with the potential to propel residential demand response in the utility industry to a scale ten times greater than current capability."
e-Radio USA Inc and its project partner A. O. Smith Corporation will be offering demos of P2D™ 2045 module during CES Las Vegas in January 6th-9th, 2015 and Distributech, in February 3rd-5th 2015 in San Diego, California.
The Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association, producer of International CES. Innovations entries are judged based on engineering qualities; aesthetic and design qualities; intended use, function and user value; unique and attractive features; and marketplace comparisons.
